How the conversion works

The calculator first converts the vial label and selected research quantity into the same mass unit. It then determines concentration, liquid volume and the corresponding markings on calibrated equipment.

Core formula

Concentration = vial quantity ÷ liquid added. Required liquid volume = selected research quantity ÷ concentration.

Mass conversion

1 milligram (mg) equals 1,000 micrograms (mcg). Confirm the unit beside every value before interpreting a result.

Syringe markings

A U-100 scale has 100 units per mL; a U-40 scale has 40 units per mL. Units describe liquid volume, not material mass.

Worked mathematical example

A vial labelled 10 mg with 2 mL added has a calculated concentration of 5 mg/mL. A researcher-entered 250 mcg quantity equals 0.25 mg, corresponding mathematically to 0.05 mL, 50 µL, 5 U-100 units or 2 U-40 units.

Common calculation questions

Does the calculator recommend a dose?

No. It only converts values entered by the researcher and provides no protocol, administration or human-use guidance.

Why do U-100 and U-40 results differ?

The scales use a different number of markings per millilitre. The calculated liquid volume remains the same.

What should be verified before using a result?

Verify the vial label, mass units, liquid volume, equipment scale, calibration and the calculation independently. Do not infer identity or purity from a label.
